Everybody Lies

My Review

Everybody Lies by Seth Stephens-Davidowitz introduced me to many interesting concepts such as The Curse of Dimensionality and Doppelganger Searching. If you are new to these concepts and would like to know about them, you can read what I have written about them (links above).

He clearly explains many concepts using engaging datasets, and some chapters are actually quite funny - so it doesn’t feel like you’re reading from a school textbook.

My favorite chapter from this book would be “Digital Truth Serum” where he discusses the truth behind many different topics, such as hate and prejudice, the internet, child abuse and abortion, and your facebook friends. I will leave you to read this yourself.

The concluding chapter of this book was unique: he explicitly said how he wasn’t sure how he would end the book, and showed his thinking process of writing the conclusion. Surprisingly, a statistics book had a great ending!
